Andrew Rand FCA – Principal
Andrew qualified in 1989 with Baker Tilly, London. He spent 12 years practising in Mayfair; six as a partner specialising in commercial property transactions and tax-efficient investment schemes. He established Stanes Rand in 2001 and remains at the forefront of the firm, providing comprehensive tax, business development and profit improvement advice to a wide range of businesses in East Anglia and London.
Andrew is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is also a registered auditor.
In addition, in May 2014, Andrew became an associated member of the Society of Share and Business Valuers.
James Doggett FCCA CTA – Director (Stanes Rand Tax Consulting Ltd)
James joined Stanes Rand in 2012, having spent in excess of thirteen years delivering accounting, business and tax services to Corporate, Business and Private Clients in the London, Hertfordshire and Cambridge areas. He has extensive experience in helping businesses with corporate restructuring and assisting business owners in fine tuning both their investments and ongoing business structures for finance, tax and operational savings.
James has particular expertise in supporting UK and International Inbound and Outbound biotech, hi-tech engineering, shipping and technology businesses. James has recently provided tax support in a number of corporate finance transactions achieving low risk and very beneficial tax structures for his clients. James is a specialist in assisting clients with: Research & Development tax credits for large and small companies, Enterprise Investment Scheme EIS, Seed EIS, Capital Allowances, Entrepreneur’s relief, Enterprise Management Incentive (EMI) Scheme share options, tax efficient remuneration and other share schemes, International tax structures including use of the patent box regime and flow of royalties, and claiming double tax relief under UK tax treaty arrangements with various jurisdictions. James is also able to assist in relation to Value Added Tax compliance and planning.
James also provides trust and estate planning, inheritance tax planning and personal tax advice to many local clients with complex affairs. James is a specialist in assisting non-domicile individuals for income tax and also helps a number of former USA citizens manage their worldwide tax affairs and US and UK reporting obligations. James is an expert on the remittance basis of tax and has helped many clients manage and mitigate their UK tax exposure under these complex tax rules.
Ben Howe ACCA – Senior Manager
Ben began his accountancy career in 2000. He trained with a local firm primarily working in their audit department dealing with a variety of clients which included charities, private schools, university colleges and owner managed businesses.
Ben joined Stanes Rand in April 2005 where he has since qualified and manages a portfolio of clients from a wide range of industries providing both audit and non audit services. He deals with a number of clients from specialist areas which include charities, pension schemes, property management businesses, FSA regulated and general insurance businesses.
Craig Lockley ACCA – Senior Manager
Craig joined Stanes Rand in 2004 as a graduate trainee, having gained a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Business Studies from De Montfort University Business School.
Since joining, Craig has gone on to work with a range of small owner-managed businesses across East Anglia dealing with a range of compliance matters. Craig qualified with the ACCA in 2009 and has since developed a specialism in auditing and financial reporting issues affecting small businesses, as well as continuing to provide general business advice.
Simon Tu BSc ACA – Manager
Simon joined Stanes Rand in 2008 as a trainee, qualifying in 2013. Simon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from King’s College, London. Having worked for HSBC in central London, he has gained valuable experience within the banking industry with particular interests in investments and corporate operations.
Since joining, Simon has worked with a range of industries providing both audit and non-audit services including preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts and business plans.
